What a fun and memorable evening!  The 2018 WMMOA Banquet was one of the best attended and enjoyable event in years.  The presence of UofM President Seth Bodnar as our special guest and Speaker no doubt increased the level if interest and attendance.  The energy in the room was high from the beginning (likely helped by the early opening of the bar).  As we were recognizing the service of all Cold War Veterans, may came in uniform and/or with medals, ribbons and badges proudly displayed.

The Grizzly Battalion Color Guard were outstanding in their duty of posting and retiring the colors and again this year Kayla Bodkin shared a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.  The bar was set early during the service songs as “Go Navy Beat Army” rang out from the sailors, so the Air Force had to “take wing” during their song.  The food and service presented by the Doubletree was superb.

President Bodnar shared with us his military service and how that experience helped lead him to becoming one of the youngest (and most qualified) Presidents of the University.  His vision and plan for the U of M was well received by all in attendance and he ended his time with us knowing the membership of WMMOA is in solid support of his presidency.

We recognized our ‘Recruiters of the Year’ and offered our farewell to our members who died during the year.  As is our tradition we closed with the singing of “God Bless America’ (We missed Carol Stovall’s lead this year as we may have been just a bit off key).  Again, it was another outstanding WMMOA evening and a great way to end our 2017/18 season.
