Our Friday luncheon before Christmas was great with a good turnout and an outstanding presentation from one of our own CDR Gary Stubblefield. We have been after Gary for years to brief us on the great work he is doing but he’s been too busy ….til the ChiCom Flu stopped his travels. Gary is a retired Navy Seal with an amazing Military Career, but his brief was on the work he and his company have been doing since retirement. With his military experience Gary is a leading expert in deterring maritime piracy but since 2001 he helped established and assists the US Dept of Energy Global Material Security to combat Radiological Dispersal Devices (dirty bombs). He and his company have worked in many dozens of countries conducting vulnerability assessments of hundreds of radioactive storage facilities. His efforts have resulted in implementation of physical security upgrades to over 285 facilities worldwide. Gary shared details and pictures of the equipment, locations, and procedures they encounter, and his work has and continues to keep us all safe. A powerful message and presentation.
